Finance and Treasurer… Find my documents!
At the last Deanery Synod the question of the role of the Treasurer came up and how to provide the accounts and annual reports in the format that the diocese require. Most treasurers are lay people with little or no experience of what needs to be submitted to the diocese.
On the Diocesan Website there are a number of resources you may find helpful. Under the list of resources you will see Finance: offering you a choice of “Cashbook” or “Parish Accounts”.
Under “Cashbook” you will find:
The receipts and payments is an excel spreadsheet that will allow you to carry out simple accounting and submit the forms the diocese require. Click on the above links to access them. The manual tells you how to work and run the package.
Under “Parish Accounts” you will find a number of documents and templates to choose from which will help you produce the information in the right format that is required.
Click “HERE” to go to the documents page and then click on Resources you can then select Finance: Parish Accounts and select the documents you wish to see and download.
A Service for those who forget, and their friends – Sunday 18th June
Thy Kingdom Come
Most people have already got the resources for “Thy Kingdom Come” the global prayer movement which the Archbishop of Canterbury is inviting people around the world to join. He is calling on Christians to pray that people might know Jesus Christ during a focused time between Ascension and Pentecost from 25th May – 4th June 2017.
The hope is that:
- People will commit to pray with God’s world-wide family – as a church, individually or as a family
- Churches will hold prayer events, such as 24-7 prayer, prayer stations and prayer walks, across the UK and in other parts of the world
- People will be transformed through prayer by the Holy Spirit, finding new confidence to be witnesses for Jesus Christ
One or two people have asked where they can get information regarding this event

Bishops in Mission Update……
“Bishops in Mission” with Bishop Robert Atwell visits the Honiton Deanery from this Sunday 26th February
Starting with Cafe Worship’s ‘soft start’ at 10am in Uplyme Church. Bishop Robert will be helping and be interviewed about his faith.
The visit continues in the afternoon at St Paul’s Church Honiton from 3 – 5pm for one of the more open events:
School for Prayer led by Bishop Robert: This is the first of the two main Deanery events, and everybody is very welcome. This event will open your eyes to prayer!
Sunday evening will close at St Paul’s with Night Prayer starting at 5.50pm
On Monday morning +Robert is at Colyton Grammar School for “Grill a Bishop”, a chance for him to meet the staff and pupils of the school.
At lunch time he will visit a farm in Cotleigh and meet Yarcombe & District Young Farmers to hear about life in our rural farming community and hopefully see lambing and milking on the farm.
Our second of the main Deanery Events is in the evening at Kilmington Village Hall 6.30pm for a 7pm start where parishes are encouraged to come and meet Bishop Robert to hear his vision for the diocese, which reflects on our growing the deanery vision. PCC members and church officers are encouraged to attend and join in.
Tuesday begins with Morning Prayer at St Gregory’s in Seaton at 9am and is followed by meeting with Community members in Axminster to help the new incumbent build links .
In the afternoon a visit to a Care Home with Honiton Dementia Action Alliance, highlighting the growing elderly demographics in the area and the challenges this presents.
The evening is devoted to the licensing of Rev’d Clive Sedgwick as the new Incumbent of the Axe Valley Mission Community. This takes place at the main Church in Axminster, St Mary’s.
